Creating the Pool Inputs Table:
- Select the Reporting Year to define the GHGIE Target.
- Set the Number of Vessels for your simulation.
- Each vessel section can represent data from a single or multiple voyages. You can include up to three fuel types per vessel section.
- Input Fuel Consumption Data: Max 3 fuel types for each vessel section:
- Report the total amount of fuel applicable to FuelEU Maritime. For example, if 100MT of HFO was consumed for a trip into Europe, you should report half of it, i.e., HFO 50MT.
- Generate Results: The tool will produce individual result(s) for each vessel and pooled results under the relevant section as per the FuelEU guidelines to further assist you with your analysis. Note: Individual results for this calculation are not available in the free version. Contact us at support@keelx.com to unlock access.
Managing Compliance:
- Compliance Surplus:
- If your simulation produces a compliance surplus, you can select a Fossil Fuel to retrieve the available quantity of that fuel for consumption from a new Vessel, without causing a compliance deficit. Note: Results for this calculation are not available in the free version. Contact us at support@keelx.com to unlock access.
- Compliance Deficit:
- If your simulation results in a compliance deficit, you can select a Renewable or Low-Carbon Fuel to retrieve the quantity needed from a new Vessel to offset the deficit.
Using the Fuel Work Equivalence Calculator:
- Select the “From” fuel and enter the quantity in MT, then select the “To” fuel. The calculator will determine the quantity of the “To” fuel required to provide an equivalent amount of energy.
Adjusting EU ETS Cost and Tradable Value of Pooled Surplus:
- EU ETS Cost:
- The default EUA price [€/tCO₂] is pre-set in the tool, but you can amend it as needed, at the bottom of the Pooled Vessels Analysis section.
- Tradable Value of Pooled Surplus:
- For compliance surplus simulations, the default Tradable Price per Surplus MT CO2eq (in EURO) can also be adjusted as required, at the bottom of the Pooled Vessels Analysis section.
Voyage Fuel Combo Optimizer:
Select a Baseline Fuel (e.g., HFO) and input the expected consumption (in MT) for the voyage if performed exclusively with this fuel. For intra-EU voyages, input the entire expected consumption. For voyages between EU/EEA ports and third countries (international voyages), input half the expected baseline consumption.
Next, select a renewable or low-carbon fuel (e.g., Bio-diesel/FAME) as the second fuel. The tool will calculate and display three scenarios in the results table:
- FuelEU Penalty Offset: The minimum amount of renewable or low-carbon fuel required to ensure there is no FuelEU Penalty, meeting compliance with no or slight surplus.
- Lowest Total Cost: The fuel combination with the lowest total cost, factoring in FuelEU penalties, EU ETS cost, and fuel prices.Note: Results for this calculation are not available in the free version. Contact us at support@keelx.com to unlock access.
- Highest Net Position: The fuel combination that maximizes net value by considering the tradable surplus value alongside costs.Note: Results for this calculation are not available in the free version. Contact us at support@keelx.com to unlock access.
You can also amend the EUA Price and Tradable Price per Surplus to customize the calculations further and align with specific market conditions.
Editing the Table of Assumptions:
- This feature is not available in the free version. To unlock full access and view results for individual vessels, as well as edit key input assumptions such as fuel prices, LCV coefficients, and other emission related factors affecting FuelEU calculations, please contact us at support@keelx.com.
Always review your inputs and outputs to ensure accurate and meaningful analysis.
